Program Information

Baby and mothers handsRegistered Nurses provide six home visits for six months to new mothers and babies to help them get off to the best start in life. The nurses give information for good health and development so that children start school healthy and ready to learn.

The Newborn Home Visit includes:

  • A health checkup of the mother and the baby by a registered nurse.
  • Information about finding a source of medical care for the family.
  • Information on normal growth, safety, nutrition and immunizations.
  • The Ready to Read Program.
  • Home visits are grant funded and are no charge to families.

Who Can Use the Program

All new mothers with newborns less than six weeks old that live in Franklin County are eligible for a Strong Families First Newborn Home Visit.
