Program Information

Baby and mothers handsRegistered Nurses provide a home visit to pregnant women and new mothers and babies to help them get off to the best start in life. The nurses give information for good health and development so that children start school healthy and ready to learn. More visits may be made if extra help is needed and the family agrees.

The Welcome Home visit includes:

  • A checkup of the mother and the baby by a registered nurse.
  • Information about finding a source of medical care for the family is offered if it is needed.
  • Information on normal growth, safety, nutrition and immunizations is given.
  • All visits are free of charge, and are only made if the family wishes.

All pregnant women and new mothers living in Franklin County are eligible for a Welcome Home visit. A woman may call (614) 645-8323 to request a Welcome Home visit. A newborn baby needs to be less than six weeks old.
