Program Information

The Franklin County Safe Communities Project helps to promote traffic safety through a coalition of partners from law enforcement, health, education, engineering, transportation and planning, together with community residents. Our goal is to reduce traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities in Franklin County by focusing on safety belt use, drinking and driving, speed, pedestrian safety, teen driving, and running of red lights.

The Coalition works to engage community residents and organizations in developing traffic safety interventions that include education, engineering and enforcement.

Community Resources:

  • Traffic safety education for schools
  • Traffic safety presentations
  • Traffic safety material: brochures, posters, videos & campaign material
  • Other Resources: fatal vision goggles (simulate intoxication), safety belt stencil (for use on sidewalks or parking lots) and Vince and Larry, crash test dummy costumes
  • Slow Down, This is Our Neighborhood yard signs ($3 per sign)

For more information, or to purchase signs, visit www.fcsafecommunities.com
