The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program provides alcohol and other drug abuse prevention, intervention and outpatient treatment services. Services include gender-specific intensive outpatient (IOP) and low intensive outpatient treatment for adults, support and prevention education groups for children impacted by parental substance abuse, early intervention for HIV in adolescents and young adults who use/abuse alcohol and other drugs, and prevention trainings and education.
Program Services
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Outpatient Treatment Program All outpatient and intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment is provided through gender-specific components for adult men and women. Specialty services include Africentric-focused outpatient treatment for men. IOP and outpatient levels of care are available on-site at the Columbus Public Health during weekdays and evening hours to 9:00 pm, and on Saturday morning. Other services include childcare during group counseling, parenting education classes, job readiness training, bus tickets for those who qualify. Fees are determined by a sliding scale that considers family size and income. Call 645-6839 for an Intake appointment. Y.E.S. Program For Children Y.E.S. (You're Extra Special) provides support and prevention education groups to help children ages 5-13 cope when someone they love abuses alcohol or other drugs. These 10-12 week groups are provided at over 40 elementary and middle schools and community agencies. Y.E.S. groups may be available on-site at the Health Department. There is no fee for the Y.E.S. Alcohol/Drug and HIV Intervention Program Prevention education, outreach, and early intervention services target adolescents and young adults whose use/abuse of alcohol and other drugs places them at increased risk for acquiring and/or transmitting HIV and other infections. Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Prevention Training and Technical Assistance Services Call 645-6256 to request prevention presentations and technical assistance for community prevention. There may be a fee for training services.
