Program Information

The Columbus Office of Minority Health Advisory Committee is charged with setting up opportunities within the community to address issues surrounding minority health. This includes:

  1. Helping facilitate access to racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations and service agencies/organizations.
  2. Helping facilitate knowledge of and access to funding and grant opportunities for COMH initiatives and their endorsement.
  3. Helping with accessing agencies/organizations that provide services to racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations.
  4. Facilitating collaborative relationships with and among agencies/organizations that provide services to racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations.
  5. Acting as a sounding board for ideas of how to facilitate access to and utilization of services by racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations.
  6. Helping with data collection and survey development to facilitate better understanding of racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations.
  7. Helping with creating a yearly calendar of events (Columbus, Ohio/Franklin County) which address health and social issues impacting racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations.
  8. Recommending speakers we can invite to board meetings to speak on issues impacting racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations.

The group meets quarterly.
