Lead Poisoning Prevention is part of our Healthy Homes Program to provide childhood lead testing and medical follow-up services for children with lead poisoning in Columbus and Worthington. We also conduct environmental assessments and interventions to eliminate exposure to lead. Education and consultation services about lead poisoning prevention also available.
Please call 645-5315 if you would like to have your child tested. Testing is available for children 6 months to 6 years of age. Held at Columbus Public Health twice a month*, on the second Thursday from 8:00 am - 11:00 am, and on the third Tuesday from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Other testing times may be arranged by appointment.
*Call ahead if you plan to attend one of the scheduled Columbus Public Health child lead testing clinics to get an appointment because clinics may be cancelled.
Lead is sometimes used in the making of toys, leading to children being exposed to lead which can be harmful. Recalls and more information can be found through the Consumer Products Safety Commission at: http://www.cpsc.gov/.
