The Institute for Active Living was created in 2008 to reduce and prevent chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes by increasing our residents' access to physical activity and nutritious food.
Imagine a neighborhood with sidewalks leading to local markets and grocery stores, where you can safely ride your bike or walk to school, work and around your neighborhood.
The personal and collective choices we make are shaped by the options we have.
Together, we can make Columbus a more active, vibrant city.
The Institute for Active Living partners with other Columbus Public Health programs to support nutritious food, physical activity and community design:
Enjoy nutritious, fresh and local food.
Move every day.
The Foundation is donor-advised fund in the Columbus Foundation to support the Institute’s work. The fund is guided by an External Advisory Committee.
