Year-Round Flu Prevention Efforts
Flu Bug Bites any Time of Year
As the H1N1 flu pandemic and immunization clinics continued into the spring of 2010, Columbus Public Health expanded its flu prevention efforts to a year-round strategy to reach more vulnerable residents.
Columbus Public Health started “at home” by offering and encouraging staff members to get an influenza shot to protect those we serve. We then offered flu education and shots to every visitor who came through our doors, whether they were here for a birth certificate, TB test or sexual health visit. Additionally, more than 6,000 students were protected at 145 area schools through on-site school based clinics.
This year, Columbus Public Health is continuing to educate and work with community groups, businesses and schools to offer flu shots wherever people live, work and play.
