World AIDS Day Kicks Off with Lighting of Iconic Landmarks and HIV Testing

MORE INFO: Nearly 1.2 million people in the U.S. are infected with HIV, yet 20 t0 25 percent of people do not know it.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently ranked Columbus 21st in the nation for HIV Infections. Young people are being hit especially hard with 25 percent of all new HIV cases in people 13 to 24-years-old.
The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force now recommends routine HIV screening for all Americans ages 15 to 65 and all pregnant women. Getting tested and knowing your status is important because early detection and care improves lives and prevents new infections.
The first ever global health day, World AIDS Day unites people around the world to fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV and commemorate people who have died.
