National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified Pool Operator® Course
Columbus Public Health is offering the National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified Pool Operator® Course (CPO®).
About The Certified Pool Operator® Course
This two-day course is designed to help broaden your knowledge for the safe operation of swimming pools, spas and spray grounds in our community.
The course is designed for:
- operators and owners
- homeowners
- health inspectors
- lifeguards
- anyone who wants to know the workings of a swimming pool or spa
CPO® certification program includes:
- pool and spa chemistry
- testing
- treatment
- filtration
- maintenance
- automatic feeding equipment
- government requirements

We offer two options for taking the course:
- Full Two-day Course
$300 - early registration (2 weeks prior to course date)
$350 - late registration (within 2 weeks of course)
Includes CPO handbook and Pool Math Workbook
- Fusion Course
$200
The Pool Operator Fusion class is an option to earn the CPO certification by taking the prerequisite online Pool Operator PrimerTM course through the National Swimming Pool Foundation and then attending only the second day of the in-class course and passing the exam. To attend the second day class and take the exam, you must bring your Pool Operator PrimerTM certificate of completion along with a photo ID. Please note that obtaining the CPO certification using the Fusion option may cost more than the 2-day class option.
